I met Daisy outside the “Pit and Pendulum” bar in Nottingham. The Pit and Pendulum describes itself as “A devilishly dark and mysterious world, a hollow in the belly of Notts. Wickedly good drinks, sinfully tempting food & an atmosphere to die for” . I’ve seen it described as a gothic themed bar. Daisy was padlocking a sandwich board to one of the pillars outside.
I saw her fabulous multi coloured hair and asked her if it was mandatory to have fabulous hair like hers to be part of the pub team.
I followed up my comment about her hair with a request to photograph her for my strangers project. Daisy said yes straight away and I asked her if she could stand in the entrance to the bar as it was a black background and would showcase her outfit and hair.
I rattled off a few quick shots, aware that I was interrupting Daisy in her work duties. I asked if she worked full time at the bar. Daisy told me she was a student at Uni’, studying English.
That was it photoshoot over, permission asked to post online and sandwich board bolted to the pillar. Maybe people in Nottingham walk off with sandwich boards ! It’s a popular student venue, so perhaps the board is a magnet for student pranks ! Notice I have the Daisy holding the padlock keys in the photo.
Sounds the place any modern with it person should hang out Phil. Love that she had to padlock her board, who would have guessed! Great photo & her hair is highlighted perfectly. You didn’t mention one eyebrow orange the other brown!!!
@ankers70 ahh right lol , I googled pen and photographic and it came up with a photographer called Penn, who created some fabulous iconic portraits !!!!
@tinley23 ooooh good spot Lesley , I hadn't noted that , when I edited the photo, I was concentrating on getting the skin tones right in the dark setting !
A great portrait. I like Daisy's pose which does not seem that she posed at all. The black and red scheme is effective and reflects well the bar's theme.
Hmmmm not sure I would find that blurb appealing LOL. You do have an eye for picking out unusual hair dyes and interesting clothes and makeup, I notice. Smiled at her having different colours on each eyebrow, what fun! Makes it look as if she is raising an eyebrow at you
I would be wary to visit from the Pit and Pendulum's description, but certainly Daisy looks friendly and harmless enough! It is a lovely portrait and the background certainly works.
NB. It's pretty amazing to have an exchange almost in real time across the globe!
@sakkasie Thank you April , very kind of you
