I often think painting with natural light is better than with studio / flash light.
This is our granddaughter Willow, in our garden , she'd been dipping her hands in a cascading water feature on our patio, Jane was passing her a white towel (with rabbit prints) to dry them. The towel acted as a reflector and pushed warm and gentle sunlight into her face. It really lifts the portrait
This is a 50% crop, the towel being the other half , it's a lovely photo to my eye
I love her trilby hat, she's put it on backwards, it was a bargain buy from Poundland !
Can you advise me? So I'm going to have a go at teaching myself how to use my Grandads Olympus OM20 film camera. I've got it to work, have taken some photos and got the film out of the camera again! I'm not sure where best to get film processed though? No high hopes for what I have taken as the film's out of date, I just want to check that the whole process works (if that makes sense) before investing time in doing it properly. What do you use? A quick google search suggest Boots does film processing were I can drop film off as we did in the old days! What do you do when you shoot film?
@newbank newbank , there are many online specialist labs . I've been using .... https://analoguewonderland.co.uk/
they seem to be a major player in the film world for supply of film , processing , printing, scanning and negatives. I get them to process my film and create high Res jpegs from the negs . The turnaround is slow and they are a bit pricey , but the quality is good . They even generate a print label free of charge to return your film in ... I took the QR code to the post office and they scanned my phone and printed the label . A friend develops my black and white films . On the high street boots and max speiman offer a service . Somebody I follow on insta appears to et good results from kirklees photography labs ( or some name similar ) the OM20 is a beautiful camera I have my original in mint condition. If you embrace film photography you have to accept there is a bit of a cost , but I think it's all part of the charm and appeal of old school photography.
