International Bomber Command Centre

The metal sculptures of Sir Barnes Wallis and Guy Gibson with Lincoln Cathedral in the background.

Bomber Command during WW2 was at High Wycombe, but the bombers of Lincolnshire used the Cathedral as a point of reference when returning to the County and their airfields from their night bombing missions, which is why the international Bomber Command Centre was created high on the hill to the South of the City of Lincoln.

what a wonderful capture of the sculptures and landscape behind them

Works very nicely as a composition. It’s a place I’ve yet to visit to pay my respects.
