Garden Visitor - Sparrow by phil_sandford

Garden Visitor - Sparrow

A relatively un-common visitor to our garden (though on other days we may get half a dozen at a time). This one was enjoying the seed feed, inbetween the visits by the Great and Blue Tits.

Sparrows are a family of small passerine birds, Passeridae. They are also known as true sparrows, or Old World sparrows, names also used for a particular genus of the family

@dawnee @brennieb @rjb71 @milaniet @happysnaps @linjoyce Thank you all. Supposedly a common bird here in the UK but I think its numbers may be declining. I guess the Big British Bird Watch later this month will tell us

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Yes, when we came home from Berlin in '95 the Starling was the most common British bird; it's now very rare to see their murmarations. I only learnt that the Sparrow was also dwindling in numbers having looked it up after taking this shot
@elisasaeter Thank you
