Feathered Predator by phil_sandford

Feathered Predator

I managed to get out of Lincolnshire last night and down to Wiltshire. It took a little under 5 1/2 hours for a trip that normally takes 4 hours.

Working from home yesterday, and drinking my many cups of Nespresso (as I’m want to do on a wfh day) looking out of the kitchen window at the passerine birds at the feeders, I noticed their sudden disappearance and the arrival of this gorgeous creature.

The sparrow-hawk a killing machine with feathers.

This was the best I could get of her, as the top of her head was hidden behind the branch of our mystery tree. I think, even in this photograph, you can see the viscious malevolence of her.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
Lovely photo. I hate when that branch thing happens, even when it's just a narrow twig or blade of grass obscuring an eye. But this photo works, due to the great detail of the feathers and draws greater attention than otherwise to the feet and talons.

Love sparrow hawks. Terrifyingly wonderful birds. This one is ignoring you, which is probably just as well - he might fancy eating you!
