Season's First by phil_sandford

Season's First

The first Dahlia of 2018 has finally flowered and I think it might be wishing it hadn't. It already looks very sad for itself and not enjoying this glorious weather, despite evening soakings from the hosepipe (the use of which hasn't been banned (yet) here in the shire)

This is one that survived the winter (I didn't lift them after the first frosts (which the purists would say you should)) so was wondering, given the winter we had here in the UK, whether they would bloom this year.

Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.

Oh I’m so glad your winter didn’t kill them! Such beautiful flowers!

It still looks beautiful. What a survivor.
Our dahlias seem to do very well in our extreme heat in summer.

Once again I've had catching up to do. I've been looking through June and July and although I haven't commented on many, for which I apologise, I have found myself pressing Fav on quite a few of your shots. I love your focusing and colours. Thank you for an enjoyable coffee break today!
