The bees really love the lavender in the garden. I’ve planted quite a few new lavender plants this year, they tend to survive for a year or so and then turn to wood. Not sure what I’m doing wrong, especially when you see the size that the bushes can get to at Norfolk Lavender.
Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
That happens to mine when I don't harvest the lavender speedily, but in the end they all have a propensity to grow leggy and woody. Norfolk Lavender might have some tips on their website or if you emailed them? Their lavenders are usually huge, as you say!
PS I just read that over watering in Summer can do it too - apparently they need to dry out well before any water goes near them.
Every time I see lavender on 365 I think I must buy another lavender plant. Our last one didn't survive the 42 degree heat and no rain a couple of years ago.
Lavender always reminds me of my Mum, she loved it.
Beautiful shot and dof. I had stunning Lavender for about 3 years and then it went all woody. I was told I should have pruned it every season. My neighbour still has hers, over a metre high, she prunes it regularly ;-)
Beautiful image I too had lots of lavender my gardener asked if I wanted the ones out front trimmed back I said ok -he took a weed eater to them !!! 😡yep they are dead now
