If you can recall, I think I said a week or so ago after our visit to Gunby Hall, I wanted to get some Cone Flowers (Echinacea) into my border. To do that, I knew it would mean an enlargement of the existing border; what I didn’t know was where.
I decided yesterday to bring the border ‘forward’ in front of where I have the bird feeder. This morning, at around 10am, I started work. Firstly I lifted and moved the 2 paving slabs that used to lead to the rotary drier and stored them safely. I removed the bird feeder (as I wanted to bring that forward also (the Squirrels have been jumping from the fence)). I then began to remove turf (keeping the best bits for repairing the lawn where it suffered in last years drought and filling in where the slabs were). Then it was a case of turning over the ground, digging in new top soil and edging.
Finally, it was a case of planting out the 20 mixed Echinacea (tallest at the back) and the 3 new lavender; feeding and watering and scattering anti slug stuff. I reckon my back will tell me tomorrow that I’m too old for this lark.
Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
The funniest thing about your comment is that I just looked at Jean’s photo labeled cone flowers and I was wondering if they were the same as our echinacea and next photo you answered it. Thank you for being clairvoyant. Your garden is beautiful. I love all the colors.
WoW that’s quite a lot of work ! Well done 💪 we plan to do the same thing in our garden next years replace some tiling for more garden. But not in 1 day 😂
Looking forward to see photo’s of your cone flowers and lavender in the future ...
I am busy dead-heading the bird of paradise flowers, well just the ones that have already gone to paradise.
