My post yesterday, of Carole and my stroll around Bradgate Park, said that we hadn’t seen the Royal Stag. however, I was told on my Facebook post by a good friend, that the stag that wandered from across the restricted zone, through the stream, straight at Carole and me and proceeded to feast on fallen acorns just a couple of metres away from us, was indeed a Royal Stag. The post on my Facebook page said that "Royal Stags have 6 points on each side of their antlers, 7 points each side is an Imperial."
This is the shot that I took as he stepped out of the stream; I was almost too close with my 100-400mm lens.
I don't think this is THE Royal Stag at Bradgate Park, I'm sure there is a bigger one, but I was pleased to be corrected.
More info on the classification of the points on the antlers can be read here
Thanks for your continued engagement with my project, your views, comments and favs.
