The statue of King Richard III outside Leicester Cathedral.
Richard lost his last battle, and his life, at the battle of Bosworth Field on August 22 1485. His body remained lost until September 2012 when it was discovered under a council carpark on what was Grey Friars Priory, bizarrely under the car park slot titled K.(as my Sis says below, it was titled R)
The body was exhumed and re-buried at Leicester Cathedral.
@30pics4jackiesdiamond So it was, an R for Reserved (long time since we saw the documentary). I go to Leicester every couple of weeks for the rugby, it’s only 63 miles, but today it was for 2 reasons, firstly to buy Fiona's Christmas/Birthday present and secondly to meet up with a BBC journalist for coffee.
I quite like the understated tomb of Richard, not that you could see it today as Cathedral was surrounded by scaffolding and closed.
Nice shot! This statue used to be in a square near the Town Hall & was moved after his discovery. I think it was better sited before. But it’s now nearer to the cathedral. Which as cathedrals go, @30pics4jackiesdiamond is very underwhelming - more like a parish church 😜
Such a difficult statue to get a decent shot of and his tomb is, to say the least, underwhelming!!
We missed you by three days!!

I always wonder why King Richard 111 is playing a tambourine too
