A shot of Lincoln Cathedral taken from the very top of the Observatory Tower of Lincoln Castle. The Victorians added the tower, believing the castle didn’t look enough like a castle (go figure). I once had a National Trust guide say that the Victorians were ‘architectural vandals’ given the damage they did to so many national treasures.
Thank you for your views, comments and favs on yesterday’s offering. Much appreciated.
The same happened to Arundel Castle I learnt yesterday. Victorians added flint for decoration and loved romantic round towers, useless in protecting in an attack!
What a. great view form a distance over the cathedral. Great POV, and to be up so high on the observation tower. It shows also how close all those houses are.
Got a great view though!!
