As the clock struck 3 AM, a sudden commotion jolted me awake. Peering through the darkness, I could barely make out my bougainvillea, its vibrant magenta blooms pressed against the windowpane, knocking to be let inside and escape the raging storm. Hurricane Milton had arrived,
