The Covered Bridge in Winter

This is the West Montrose Covered Bridge. I believe it's the last covered bridge in Ontario. That's not quite true because I posted pictures of a covered bridge in Guelph last year-- but that one is a modern construction (1990s) made using old techniques, and it's a pedestrian-only bridge in a park. The West Montrose Covered Bridge is actually from the 1800s, and it's still part of the public road system. Heavy trucks and farm machinery aren't allowed to cross it, but it's used every day both by horses and buggies and by regular vehicle traffic (cars, vans, pickup trucks, etc).

Last year Chris suggested that I pick a local place to take the same photo in each of the four seasons, but it didn't happen. This year we talked about it early and tried to pick a place we thought would be good, and we came up with the covered bridge. Hopefully this photo will be the first in a series of four!
