Chris is originally from a port city a little less than an hour away, called Hamilton. We went there today because he wanted to show me a particular spot-- a row of floats near the harbour where the cormorants line up and stand like this to sun themselves. The line of floats was mostly unoccupied today, but this guy seemed happy to demonstrate for me.
We walked about 2.5km, which doesn't feel long to me, but many days is too much for Chris ever since he had Covid (he got sick in the very early days, March 2020). We saw all sorts of things on the walk-- so many kinds of birds, flowers, butterflies, dragonflies... even a couple of turtles and a snake! We went slowly, and Christopher is knackered now... I don't know what tomorrow will be like, but today was a good day.
The way the cormorants stand on the floats and the day out with my very best friend reminded me of this song: https://youtu.be/diwuu_r6GJE
It was hard to choose a picture today since we saw so much stuff, but since Husband wanting to show me the cormorants standing on the floats is what prompted the whole excursion, I figured this fellow should get the nod!
