Port Burwell Lighthouse by princessicajessica

Port Burwell Lighthouse

From a sizeable port city on Lake Ontario yesterday, to a wee little port village on Lake Erie today!

This is the oldest wooden lighthouse on the Canadian side of the Great Lakes. It was built between 1837 and 1840, and it was in use until the 1960s. Today it's owned by the village and is operated as part of a local museum, though it's closed to the public for 2023, apparently. Hopefully it will reopen in future as I haven't been up it since I was a little girl and would really like to take Husband up to see the view as well! Although the tower is only 45' tall, the lake is about 90' below when you're up at the top because the lighthouse is built on a bluff.
Sounds like a lovely place to visit. Nice that it has been turned into a museum now
