Barra fishing

I haven't seen this done before, perhaps its normal up in the far North? Fish skeletons hung in trees - it does look like the local birds appreciate the offering but seems a little "Deliverance" country behaviour to me :)
Wait, is that banjos I hear?
Goodness, that is interesting. Great shot!

Wow...interesting. Not too sure what I think about it...but Deliverance does come to mind.

Haha. Yes I was thinking deliverance.

Oh wow! Burt Reynolds would probably chuckle if he saw this. =)

Interesting photo, and I like your humorous commentary! 😁

Interesting find and capture. The practice seems rather bizarre.

Interesting, I've never seen this.

Very odd and interesting!! wonder if the fish were fileted or just hung out, cool capture!

Hard to know which looks worse - left in the water or strung up on a tree..

Yes, just a little creepy! I never saw Deliverance but know of the movie. Could be like head hunters too! Definitely an eye-catching shot.

What a find. You better hope you don’t hear banjos unless there’s a bluegrass joint around the corner.

@rontu @robz pretty sure the fisher people took the good stuff in fillets. Perhaps the local birdlife appreciates the offering. Droppings on the stones below would suggest that they do :)

Great find and capture.

@pusspup Lol - I'm pretty sure you're right about the locals taking the fillets!! Too good to leave for the birds.. I guess that when you're out in the bush it makes no difference if you feed the birds on a tree or feed the crabs and the birds in the water. It always looks a bit gross when fishermen come back into a community ramp, fillet their fish and throw the skeletons in beside the ramp to rot....... :)

@robz especially when it’s an enclosed lake!!!

Very interesting shot. Some animals hang their prey.
