The tower. by pyrrhula

The tower.

The answer on yesterday`s question. The tower has been subsided and is n`t perpendicular anymore. The reason . The soil .The church is built on a sandbank and the tower on the edge of this and there the soil is peat.
The main reason why people settle in the ancient time in this area was of the peat and the salt water. They dig up the peat , burn it and the remains was : Salt. In those days worth a lot. Later on it has been forbidden to do so, it did cost a lot of land and agriculture getting more and more important
Awesome

Ooh great spotting of the tower! I hope it's not too wobbly! Good that people don't burn the peat any more too.
