The border. by pyrrhula

The border.

I`ve drove the greatest distance in our country from my place. To the North- East border (Nieuwe Statenzijl ). 367 km. = +/- 229 miles. The fence is the border between our country and Germany. The pic. is taken on the sea dike and the land is a nature part of the water named : Dollard. You can `t see much of it as it is low water and there is a great sand bank . The city on the horizon is Gemany`s Emden.
For a better orientation see the map on : http://365project.org/pyrrhula/365/2015-08-09 The most right arrow sign on it .

Wish you all a great weekend.

The bst thing about this border is that the steps enable you to easily cross between the two countries. Great shot and title

@khirsch There was a road to , not far behind , on the other side of the dike.

That's absolutely fascinating, Ferry! For some reason I didn't imagine countries other than the southern US border having fences! Now I've learned at least TWO new things today! (The other was first thing this morning, also on a 365 photo!) You have a good weekend, too! We've got International Dory Races in the harbour this weekend...hoping to see some of it! I'm also going to a birthday lunch (one last time!) with a couple of friends! Sounds like a good weekend, doesn't it?!

Wow ,a great piece of history ,thanks for sharing.

I'm sure the steps were not meant for anyone to climb over the fence. 3 to 4 hours driving isn't that bad unless you have to drive back home the same day. not much time for visiting in that case. nice of you to take Ina to see her birth place. once again and visit with family.

@bruni @stiggle @leananiemand . This table is a step. As the dike is rent by farmers and graze by his sheep`s in time van emergency they need a quick passage . ( In time of high water level and a North-west storm this area can be flood.)

This is really amazing to see another country "just over there". We have no concept of that here in Australia. I'm catching up from many busy days.
