Cauliflower (Dutch : Bloemkool) is one of several vegetables in the species Brassica oleracea.
To keep the Cauliflower white they bind the leaves together with an elastic band. See right insert pic.
Nice capture. I always love seeing this Dutch windmills. I like cauliflower but I've never seen them growing. I didn't know they had to bundle the leaves.
Hans said they do it here too. there you see, he knows more than I do. interesting. I wonder if the taste of them would be different if they turn yellow instead of white. great picture of the field and thanks for the inserts.
The moment I saw the windmill, I knew whose posting this was! Cauliflower is one of my favorite vegetables. I DO LIKE IT, however, with a nice cheese sauce!
I'm falling asleep as I sit here, Ferry, so I'm off to get some much-needed rest! I'm glad I came to your photo before leaving!
I used to grow a few in my garden and I used to bind the leaves to keep the inside white, too. But that would be just a dozen or so - this field is awesomely big.
@kelly2@jennywren@merrelyn I think it is done by a machine or with people on laying on a wide car . @bruni I do n`t think so. Only other interest. @Weezilou Take good care of yourself. do n`t run faster than you shadow do.
To all : O, you love windmills. Watch me.
