This is the front cover of a photobook which I made a couple of years ago in remembrance and celebration of the life of my younger, and only, sister, Wendy.
She died on March 11th , 1996, aged 46, from breast cancer. It was hard to find photos of every stage of her life, childhood, teenage years, marriage, family, dogs (!)..................
And it was hard, emotionally, to create the book, too. But when it was complete, I was pleased with it and pleased that I had achieved it. I had some copies printed for other members of the family.
Claire, thanks for taking the trouble to look. I think making the photobook was therapeutic, if difficult. I became pragmatic in the end over her illness just knowing she was out of her suffering and I've always accepted what happened but when anniversaries come around, it resurfaces a bit.
This is such a beautiful way to honor your sister's memory. I can't imagine how hard that was for you. I only have one sibling, my younger sister, so this breaks my heart for you.
Oh dear Hazel I never saw this before...how you must miss her...a sister is so special & the closest family you can have. I feel your pain as my younger sister too is suffering from breast cancer at this moment although has mostly just finished her treatment. So young too.....a tragedy!
This must be a wonderful archive, Hazel.
Breast cancer is a horrible illness. My daughter (she survived breast cancer ten years ago) lost two of her friends last week. Young women.
Thank you for visiting this post about my sister. Life is strange, I find, in that the things one worries about, rarely happen, but the things you never imagine will affect you personally are what come your way. Thank you for your kind words and I have great empathy for those of you and your family also affected in some way by breast cancer.
I always find it difficult to say appropriate words when somebody posts a moving story or picture on 365 . It is good that you feel confident to share this with your 365 friends both now and also back in 2012.
A great tribute to your sister and a lasting memory
I agree these posts are difficult and I never want anyone to leave effusive comments. It is difficult to imagine anywhere else that I would feel like posting such tributes. Thanks for your visit and comments.
