I've spent time getting a few more shots of the wrens in our garden. Strange really as I would not spend that amount of time just watching birds but as it was for pics for 365.....
Probably miss the fledgelings as we are off to Suffolk and Norfolk to visit the folks. But hopefully can still keep in touch here as I now have a netbook (the power of 365 - see above!!)
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Worth all your patience to get these delightfull shots.......super collage of events too. I see your foxgloves are enjoying the cool wet weather too! So you're coming our way eh? Enjoy your visit, shame about missing the fledglings...baby wrens are so cute!
@Cherrill Thank you for your comments, Cherrill. Yes the foxgloves are really good right now. There were two wrens 'playing' briefly mostly at ground level this morning and then another flew out of the nest and almost straight back again but I can't tell which generation they are! They don't look fluffy like your fledglings but I only got a fleeting glimpse.
Yes, we are basically from Ipswich but I was born in Claydon.
@Cherrill Well you know the saying! I was born in Paper Mill Lane, Claydon, the family moved to Ipswich when I was 5. My mother's family come from Combs/Barham/Stowmarket/Claydon and my father's from Debenham and Bradfield St Clare areas. My maternal great grandfather, Alfred Wright, 1848-1902, used to keep the Gladstone Arms in Combs. I found a photo of it online but don't know if it's still there. We are visiting relatives in Framlingham this time.
@quietpurplehaze Hazel....I know Paper Mill Lane of course! The 'Gladdy' is certainly still there....my partner and his son in law to be spent a very hazy evening there just before his daughter's wedding!! It's within walking distance luckily! As you say....small world! :-)
@Cherrill Interesting to know the pub still exists! My maternal grandparents lived in a cottage in the main street in Claydon, next door but one to the rectory garden and my Auntie Betty (my father's younger sister) http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2012-04-28 who now lives in Cornwall used to live as a child in Smilax House next door to Jary's also in the main street.
Love the wrens, and well done for your patience in catching each shot. They are obviously busy feeding their family. I think we have a nest behind some loose boards in our old porch but our wrens are much more secretive than your little birds! We just hear their warning cries where ever we go in the garden.
@tishpics@christiehicks thanks for your comments. In a way I'm glad we're having a few days away as it can get to be a bit of an obssession catching the shots of these elusive birds! I've missed so many shots that would have been much better than the ones I captured. They remind me a bit of a leaf fluttering past as they are so light and quick.
