A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Thank you dear Hazel for the fav. It`s makes my day.
I can`t say it`s my favourite, we don`t have that brand of beer.
Very creative solution to get you blue. Well captured
@pyrrhula For the fav, you are very welcome. For the beer, Adnams is a small independent brewery in the seaside town of Southwold, not far from our home town, Ipswich in Suffolk, in the east of England. On the bottle label it says that this beer, called Broadside, "is brewed to commemorate the fierce battle fought against the Dutch Republic in 1672 off the Suffolk coast. (It does not say who won!) "This dark ruby red beer is full of fruitcake flavours."
@pyrrhula
I looked on Wikepedia for this battle;
"Losses were heavy on both sides: one Dutch ship, the Jozua, was destroyed and another, the Stavoren, captured, a third Dutch ship had an accident during repairs immediately after the battle and blew up. The battle ended inconclusively at sunset. Both sides claimed victory, the Dutch with the most justification as the English-French plan to blockade the Dutch was abandoned.
The fleets met again at the Battle of Schooneveld in 1673."
And so it goes on..............................
@pyrrhula I was just amused that the beer was to commemorate a battle between the Dutch and the English. I actually know virtually nothing about wars and battles because they don't interest me!!
