.....was our first date. We went to the cinema in Ipswich to see The Trap (Rita Tushingham & Oliver Reed). A year and a bit later, yellow roses were our wedding flowers. I don't have a coloured shot of them so here's a substitute from that arrangement of flowers in the pub the other week. http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/add-ins/2013-03-23
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
A great capture of this beautiful flowers and what a great/lovely memories
Ipswich is how far you live now ?. And I believe weather conditions is also a big different . Is it a big chance ?
What a cool first date to remember. Beautiful yellow rose and so nice that you can always remember that date. I love April Fools jokes. I have played some good ones on my sweet husband over the years. I like to pull the goose joke on my kids. (See todays picture if you want to give it a try.!)
Aw...lovely! I remember our first date,we went to a pasta restaurant, and they had no pasta!! It still makes us laugh! Love your yellow rose, are they the symbol for friendship...? Just what, in my opinion a marriage should be about! Lovely shot!
I had a chuckle at your remarks, Justine. I understand that the colour yellow is the symbol of friendship in Japanese culture, but I didn't know that at the time. We arrived at my parents' house after the cinema to find a 'reception committee' of mum and dad, sis and her boyfriend all sitting up past their bedtime! So Ray had a cup of coffee and then, the last buses having finished, walked the 3 miles home to his parents' house. He told me afterwards that he ran the first bit across the park with happiness! I agree with how you see marriage, too.
Thanks, everybody for your interest and generous comments.
44 years seems like forever when I write the number down but it also seems condensed into a short space. The concept of time I find really interesting, also bizarre!
It would be about 9 hours drive to visit Clare in Glasgow. I wouldn't be able to cope with all that travel but luckily we live a 10 min drive from Southampton airport where we can catch a plane to get to Glasgow in one hour.

I didn't realise that!
The flowers were on the windowsill in the ladies' loo at the pub - very handy and thoughtful for photos!
Louise, thanks for stopping by and for good wishes.
