We have our own dog-grooming parlour here in Fair Oak now! The first time Jinks saw this dalmatian statue in the window he growled loudly. But I notice today that the statue is standing on Jinks' reflection! The bowl of water was welcome on our before-breakfast walk.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
You, too, Paula - I was hoping for lavender shots today as we were going to the lavender farm but we've put it off until tomorrow as it's so hot already!
Very cool!!! Love it! Our Charlie will bark/growl at anything he does not understand...even a plastic bag blowing in the wind. They are such delights! Love that you caught this moment!!
And I have to think about going out again soon and it's still hot! I thought of you today when I read a review by Andrew Solomon (Far from the Tree...) of a book called The Reason I Jump by Naoki Higashida - going to look it out.
Exactly so. I thought that trait was just Jinks until I read Animals inTranslation by Temple Grandin about her experiences, in particular with cows, in her work as an animal behaviourist.
Nice shot Hazel. Our poor boy just got desexed and is not too pleased having to wear a collar for 10 days...I think he is a tad depressed, being a Kelpie and all - he just wants to run and jump and he is not to do either. :(
@quietpurplehaze Oh yes I saw that in the bookshop today - I imagine it's very interesting but I heard a discussion with David Mitchell and another parent of a profoundly autistic boy and I think she was frustrated because it doesn't represent her experience of a child with very severe disability.
Actually I think it's very interesting to see how different everybody's experience is with any disability. In a way, it's only to be expected as everybody's personality is different and complex regardless of whether or not they have a diagnosis of a specific condition. Thanks.
It is quite hard for them and unfortunatelyJinks had a complication after being neutered and was in that horrible collar for several weeks. Nothing else for it though as he would just have created havoc without it.

Jinks only likes water to drink! Having a bath is torture for him!!
