This was finally built in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, in 1996, nearly a century after Charles Rennie Mackintosh entered his plans for it in a competition in a German interior design magazine in 1901.
His entry was actually disqualified because he failed to submit the requisite number of drawings but the judges were so impressed that they awarded him a special prize of 600 marks.
This was our second visit and I was even more impressed by the elegance and simplicity of the house.
Our daughter, Clare, introduced us to the work of CRM a few years ago and I love it and we've visited quite a few of his buildings in Scotland, also followed the journey he and his wife took for the last 4 years of his life in Languedoc Roussillon where there are now exhibitions in 3 different locations.
I had never seen the house ,but the house is so much of his style , beautiful ,clean &,minimalistic style Did a quick study on both C.R.M. and William Morris when I was doing work in Silk painting .

Love the House for an Art Lover
Lovely - and inspirational - I would imagine.
