The concert yesterday offered tea and cake in the interval as well as some Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. We stepped outside where there was a space on a low wall to put our cups and saucers while we ate our cake. Very soon, this little robin flew down, in search of crumbs no doubt (there were none). I managed to get my camera out of its camera case out of my handbag and bag a shot.
Robins, for me at least, are getting like buses: I've waited ages to catch one and now they are all coming along at once.
Note the promise of daffodil shoots in my photo.
Posted also for 'Macro-Monday' and 'bird' as a January word of the day.
Well, Pat, if I say that my cake was chocolate and Ray's was called raspberry crumble cake, you'll surely understand the lack of crumbs!!! It was a very generous concert by the Vienna Piano Trio (piano, violin, cello) who played trios by Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn, plus an encore and then, for those who had the stamina (we didn't, and my back was stiff!) there was another helping of Mendelssohn which they obviously wanted to run past us as they are playing it on Radio 3 in a lunchtime concert today!
I'm not quite sure why robins are so popular. They're pretty but so are other English birds - to do with the Christmas cards promotions they get perhaps?!
The picture evoked, of the words/stories you have written, capture the imagination & interest every bit as much as the glorious pictures you capture & post. It is clear that should you desire to put pen to paper, you could very well, be a best seller, naturally with your own photography.
Karen, I'm a bit overwhelmed by what you say - thank you so much. I feel I do not have the discipline to write a book (although the idea has attracted me). The closest I have come (or will come) is probably my editing of my dad's PoW diaries. About 3 weeks' daily posts from them start here on 365 http://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/add-ins/2012-05-07 in case you want to take a look.
Hazel, you don't know me in depth, nor I you, so, let it be know I have nothing to gain, for the lavish praise I deem you deserve. Prioritise the editing of your fathers POW diaries, such a personal & important recording worthy of your time & effort after which you will need a rest as recorded details may at stages be all absorbing & overwhelming. Then, write a damn good book, once started the discipline will follow.
Karen, thank you for your comment. The editing of my dad's diaries was done around th e year 2000. I have word processed copies for the family, including scans of his photos etc he brought back and the original handwritten diaries are in a museum in England. I find you a very empathetic person: in fact I did become ill after editing the diaries (I have bipolar disorder). I'm still glad that I did it! Have been well for 11 years btw. Thanks for your support.
Hazel, I thank you for your trust & honesty I am heartened that you have been & shall remain well for so very long, no doubt due to your love of photography & all things beautiful ,full of happy healthy promise & life. Keep up the good work.
Karen, thank you - since I got my diagnosis (30+ years after my 1st episode when I went to university!) I've had a life management plan of my own making, drawn from various sources - 365 is a really wonderful addition to this.

Probably not - such a job getting cake crumbs!

It could mean that - or we could also be due for a dose of American snow which does happen!

I've been 'practising' capturing birds for months!
