... in bronze (1981) by Dame Elisabeth Frink. She is walking in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.
I found the sculpture incredibly difficult to photograph either in sunshine or under grey sky. But I like the way she seems protected in the angle of the cathedral and I love the movement in the figure.
Beautifully done Hazel, she looks good against the cathedral backdrop and seems more contemplative here. Have you read Golding's The Spire? Based on this cathedral.
I photographed this last December and found it difficult as you did. Good shot though.
David insisted on naming it The Walking Madonna with the big boobies , like in 'Allo 'Allo. Men never grow up do they, well my one doesn't.
She has a very graceful figure Hazel.....I suppose the shine light would be very difficult to photo evenly.......some subjects are harder than you would think!.
I think you have done a great job with this. That texture must have been very hard to show in the photo, and I do love your composition as well. Great work.
Henrietta, thank you. There is a lamp post beyond and behind the Madonna so the first challenge was to find a viewpoint which obliterated it and then I did spend time post-processing, unusual for me.
I haven't read that - on my list of future reading now, thank you!
