It was sunny in the walled garden at Avebury Manor when we visited. The scent of the wallflowers filling the formal box-edged beds was overwhelming.
I've never seen wallflowers growing singly so the figurative use of their name to indicate somebody alone and not participating in whatever seems a bit strange.
