How to........ by quietpurplehaze

How to........

............get to the grass that's greener on the other side.

When I viewed the pics I had taken of this giraffe and saw the angle of its leg, it stirred a memory of the sad demise of another giraffe who lived at Marwell Zoo a number of years ago:

"In 1977 Victor, the giraffe, slipped, did the splits at Marwell Zoo and couldn't get up.

Nobody quite knows what Victor was doing at the time, though some suggested it may have involved his lady friend, Dribbles.

As the days passed and Victor still lay on the ground, legs splayed, his plight became a local news story. Victor became first national and then international news. Letters of support arrived from all over the world.

Portsmouth dockyard workers made a sling which was used in an attempt to hoist Victor back onto this feet - but to no avail.

Sadly, Victor never did stand again and eventually he died in the arms of his keeper. He had torn a muscle in his leg and suffered a heart attack.

Dribbles gave birth to a female calf the next summer."

Now the other pic makes more sense as I didn't get it at first. Brilliant !

Wow! Sad story. Love the pics. We loved the giraffes at the St. Louis Zoo. They would reach across and like the info sign in front of their enclosure. It was so funny to watch.

I hope they called the baby giraffe "Victoria" after Victor!!!! Seems they could have tried to air lift him up with a helicopter? Just a thought! Poor guy! At least a little something of him carried on!!! Fantastic collage and I guess the grass is greener on the other side!!! FAV!
