Once upon a time, when I was a little girl (no comments please!), my sister and I used to leave a mince pie and a glass of sherry on the mantelpiece for Father Christmas.
So I was pleased to see at Fred's place (aka The Anvil in Bishops Waltham) where a friend and I had tea and cheese scones yesterday, that there is a hot water bottle ready for him on the stove this year, albeit a very old fashioned hot water bottle.
Wonder what will be in the posh copper pan?!
Magical to see my pink rose made it to PP, thank you all! I'm tempted to pick it and bring it indoors but it will last longer outside and I can have a sniff as I go past.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Mince pie and sherry for santa and a carrot for Rudolph. As soon as the children were in bed I used to have the sherry I needed it by then. A nice christmas capture.
I've got a bottle like that made by Doulton Lambeth and no it's just a collection piece. Lovely Christmas scene and capture. On a similar story my boys started leaving a bucket of water for the reindeer, as well as the glass of wine and mince pie. I didn't mind eating the pie and drinking the wine but it was a bugger trying to drink the bucket of water (Wink). That's a true story but the water went down the sink.
We always left milk and cookies for hot chocolate and cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. I do like this Holiday scene that you photographed here. Wonderful capture.
Don`t worry, I did a carrot and some hay in my wooden shoe for the horse of `` Sinterklaas`` and put them near the chimney. Hope to get some presents.
Do you know about our ``Sinterklaas `` ? Great Christmas capture
My grandchildren still did this last year. This year they are very concerned because I've got rid of the cola fire and had a gas fire in its place. So how will Father Christmas get in??? Great Christmassy shot.
Great shot and fun information. Our daughters would leave milk and cookies for Santa, and then our grandchildren did the same!!! What fun to read the different comments!!! Congratulations for making PP!!!
What a great tradition over your years. We left cookies and milk for Santa. It is so much fun to see what others do or have done over the years. Great and cozy photo. FAV
Congratulations on your Pink Rose making it to PP, well deserved and very beautiful!! I very seldom pick mine either. I do love this photo and I am sure there will be something quite good for Father Christmas to eat and to warm himself at this place!! It looks so inviting!! I do LOVE that hot water bottle!!!! FAV!
Margo, I can see already that I will be probably getting some interesting replies to this post!
My kids leave out freshly baked cookies and some Irish beer :)
Heather, you do make me laugh - thank you!
Do you know about our ``Sinterklaas `` ? Great Christmas capture
I seem to remember this dilemma at one stage in my childhood. But I can't help because I can't remember now what was the answer!
