Beside the seaside - a Hobbit house

In my imagination but in reality WW2 defences, probably a pill box or sentry box, looking out from the beach at Hillhead across The Solent to the Isle of Wight.
And I thought it was an earth oven for you to cook pizzas in! I love all the textures in this shot.

A great find and capture , Hazel -- it always interests and intrigues me to find such structures So cleverly shaped and coloured to blend in with their surroundings and well camouflaged !

It would make a great kleftiko oven. everyone in the village we lived in Cyprus had one in the garden.

Love these pillboxes, nice textures.

I like the shape and composition. Reminds me of Luke Skywalker's house in the fist Star-wars.

Just my type of thing, this - idea of the domed top was to make bullets and shells (military shells!) glance off harmlessly. Looks like it worked in this case - fav

Well captured, Hazel. Interesting.

It does look very inviting...I like it has a hobbit house, such a happier feeling that the poor chaps who spent time there must have been going through.

How cool!! Did you peek inside? I would have to!! LOL Great camouflage, but way too small for me to go inside!! It would creep me out, I'd be closed in and if the water came up it would get inside and drown me!! I know, wild imagination, but can't help it! Great find and even greater photo!! FAV!!
