I always used to take close-ups (I hesitate to call them macros ever since a technologically advanced friend explained the precise meaning of that word to me) with a wide-open aperture.
But I've found that a better detail can sometimes be obtained by stopping down the aperture.
This was taken on f14 and I'm posting it for the macro challenge
This is very pretty Hazel, a lovely close up! I really need to try stopping down too as I think it would give me more variation in my images. Thanks for the suggestion :)
Oh I think you can pass it off as a macro shot Hazel. Nobody seems to stick to the 1:1 original definition these days, when 'macro' has come to mean 'close-up'. Maybe it is life sized?
I'll go back to saying 'macro' then David! When I had my first p&s camera (Fuji A405) I loved that little flower sign on the screen which = macro as it was the best type of shot the camera took and macro became, and stayed, my favourite for a long time.
