zinnia

Whenever I say or hear this word I always think of Pa Larkin in 'The Darling Buds of May' and his twins named Zinnia and Petunia!

I read all H.E Bates' novels in my teenage years - so innocent, lyrical and beautiful.
Beautiful.

I love the amazing colours. I find this flower really beautiful, especially because of its yellow "crown".

Yes, I like those flowers within a flower too.

I love zinnias - they come in many beautiful colours. I haven't planted any for ages now. This is a beautiful close-up of one lovely zinnia.

A lovely flower , great depth of colour and beautiful and velvety I haven't grown Zinnias for years -- perhaps its time for a re-think in the garden !!

Nice shot and lovely flower.
I remember this novel by H.E. Bates; read it in high school and enjoyed it. Another beautiful novel I remember is "Fair stood the wind for France", about a love in occupied France during World War II.

Yes the novel set in France was great. My favourite is 'A Moment in Time' - very poignant but very beautiful.

A wonderful memory photo for me. Growing up in a very dry rural part of Australia my mum planted & tended these flowers along the front fence of the farm. People travelling past to the next property would stop to admire them. Fav & Thankyou! Unfortunately in those times no one ever thought to take a photo, but imprinted in my brain:)

Very pretty! Zinnias always make me think of my grandmother's garden. It was full of them in pinks, reds, yellows and orange.
