a dog's life

Last summer, Jinks had 14 teeth extracted in one go. He then had a bit of a problem eating his food for a while. I hand fed him etc etc.

He's OK eating in general but every now and then he remembers that time. So, to keep him really interested in his meals, he now has 2 days of tinned dog meat followed by 1 day of raw beef mince. A little dog meal each time.

You should see the speed at which that mince disappears from the bowl!

Good ol' Jinks! 14 teeth in one go is tough! He definitely deserves the beef mince :)

I am sure he really appreciates being pampered. We used to have a cat and she had lots of teeth removed. Afterwards she would eat nothing but mashed up pilchards for a while.

He's looking pretty spry!

Any old man of his age would appreciate a little pampering !! Alfie has a little tinned dog food with his dried food in the evenings and a roast lunch on Sundays !! Whatever roast meat we have , a selection of veg ,a little potato and gravy !! !

Lovely boy, a bit of pampering goes a long way. We are going to have to give Barnaby extra extra treats when the new pup arrives in 4 weeks time.

Poor Jinx with few teeth

@susie1205

How old is Barnaby now? (Jinks, at 14, is rather intolerant of puppies!)

@beryl

Well if Alfie were here today, it would be roast beef. I shall not let Jinks read this! He cannot eat a lot of dog meal now so has more tinned meat than anything.

14 teeth in one go - that is a lot - poor Jinx. He certainly deserves that mince!

A lovely treat for Jinks to enjoy good to know he is eating well. I gave one of my cats chicken liver when he was ill and after that he refused cat food and lived on chicken liver and diced turkey meat.

Poor Jinks to have to have gone through such an ordeal. Sweet image of him.

Yes, and considering Jinks' houdini-like nature I'm rather surprised he has reached that age! We took over my mother's Cairn after she died and that dog lived to be 12.
