Jim and Claire's boat by quietpurplehaze

Jim and Claire's boat

On a wet and windy afternoon during our stay with friends in Suffolk last year, we went to the shingle beach at Aldeburgh to visit a fisherman's hut.

For dinner, we bought plaice fillets so delicious you could hardy believe it. And I caught this beach shot.
This is a great beach shot Hazel. I love the foreground boat, and it's nice that the one behind is just a smidging out of focus. Super perspective.

I really like these sort of photos - they tell a real story but leave lots of intrigue. I wonder what happened to Jim and Claire?

I love this shot, looks great in b&w.
I envy you having plaice fillets, I used to love plaice when I lived in the UK. We don't get it here.

Nice and artistic mono haze. Nice tones .
A little tip on the composition. I would have moved slightly so you have a gap between the boats. Just a minor thing but a little gap would complete the shot and emphasise the Dof between objects

A really moving shot as I think Jim & Clare must have many a happy hour sailing together in this boat. I hope they are still around but I think the boat might want a bit of fettling! Plaice us my favourite fish!

Plaice! When I lived in the Isle of Man, we had a friend, Bert, who seemed as old as God...and he taught me how to fish...for plaice. Manx waters are crystal clear, no pollution. Bert made the lures...with the shiny beads he robbed from his wife's jewelry box. We used to put out from the shore in an open boat with an outboard and motor a little way down up the East coast at Ramsey. Using this shiny bait, iridescent in the water, we would choose which fish we were going to catch...and we did catch those we chose! From the Irish Sea to plate...no more than an hour, max ;-)
