A rather mixed New Year's Day for us yesterday. What should have been a good morning swim was spoilt by ill-mannered children in the pool. I bore you not with the details.
We went on to Winchester for a wander around, yours truly with the camera as usual.
We had a pleasant lunch at Café Winchester but had to choose what was available as they had been open for New Year's Eve and no replenishment of supplies after that.
No bacon for a sandwich and sausages for a sandwich, yes, but no bread. We settled for jacket potatoes, mine with cheese and Ray's with baked beans. We did not go hungry.
As he paid the bill, Ray remarked jokingly that it could be, according to the scaremongering (we hope it's scaremongering) about a no-deal Brexit (what a ridiculous word), like this after the end of March - eat what's available.
The highlight of the outing, apart from purchasing new lipsticks (me!), was a little photography including my shot of this beautiful and elegant cygnet on the river in the recreation ground.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
LOL!! I rather think the no-deal Brexit scaremongering is....... scaremongering. But only time will tell, eh? As you say, you did not go hungry anyway!
What a sweet cygnet. I do love the brown-ness of the feathers at this stage.
Gorgeous cygner

Nice cygnet...
Thank you!
Thank you Nadiya and all good wishes for a great 2019 for you and yours.
Thank you all for visits and comments. This was just one cygnet with 3 swans and it was rather small so maybe it had to stay home a bit longer!!
Well let's hope for the best.........and yes, rather a sweet small cygnet.
I'll try to catch your optimism, Jackie!
Thanks, Sam, so much for fav and comment and New Year wishes. Hope your 2019 is great!
You made me smile!
Thanks, Phil I've noticed that the a6000 is ace at capturing the surface of rivers etc - more than the eye can see!
Yes, a juvenile - cygnet - only one which is strange. Maybe a fox got the others.
