A vase of narcissus........... by quietpurplehaze

A vase of narcissus...........

...and conifer from the front garden.

Just a glimpse of the pottery made by a Suffolk potter called Bernard Rooke.

I was a little surprised recently to come across a comment decribing his work as 'brutalist'. I would only have used this adjective for the concrete car park in Greyfriars, Ipswich or the now-demolished car park in Portsmouth.
I miss the Tricorn!! Is Greyfriars still there?? Both ugly as an uglything!!

Vase isn't ugly, but neither beautiful nor dainty, so perhaps reason for description.

Composition on the other hand......

Lovely still life Hazel. That seems like a harsh description. I'd like to see more of the pot as it doesn't look at all brutalist to me.

I wouldn't have thought to use conifer in the arrangement but I love the look.

Thanks for the link - v beautiful photography indeed. Here's one for you which I expect you remember https://365project.org/quietpurplehaze/365/2016-11-11 My stranger Joe, now aged 97, was on the front page of The Times yesterday - and a shot inside - both in full colour looking as large as life still!
