King Alfred

It just occurred to me seeing this statue of King Alfred again in Winchester the contrast between the plenty available to the crowds of shoppers on Sunday and his few burnt cakes!

Interesting character. He's remembered for the cakes but he had great vision and an innovative mind.

@gnilrets Thank you- it was a beautiful day. I should really have showed you a shot of the busy busy Sunday shopping streets in Winchester. We toured the car parks looking for a space and had to leave the car in a side street and walk back in.
