The Woodland Classroom at the Sustainability Centre

in the South Downs National Park.
All of the wood, and most of the materials, for the building were sourced from within a mile of The Sustainability Centre. The main structure uses softwoods from the local woodland. The roof is made from sawn western red cedar shingles.
The classroom has cordwood walls to the north and a clay fireplace. The rest is open-sided, with canvas roll-down panels. In the classroom are folding tables & chairs and circular benches.
The building is used by school groups, courses and people attending funerals at the Natural Burial Site at the Centre.
This is wonderful Hazel - I love anything to do with wood
