Little West End Farm Vineyard on Old Winchester Hill
The owner of an established Grand Cru Champagne House has now begun production of sparkling wine, called Meonhill, here on the South Downs using traditional methods, with a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir.
It did seem bleak when we walked here over Easter but Ray assures me the slopes are south facing and beautiful in the summer.
I'll try to go up there on a blazing hot blue sky summer day - if we get one!
