Ian is one of a team of five (all men) at Lanhydrock, a National Trust property, who work the year round - come rain, come shine - in the large gardens there. He says that spring is his favourite season.
My photo of Ian was taken in the herbaceous border near where he was cutting the grass - that sweet freshly-mown smell.
Ian has been a gardener at Lanhydrock for 26 years and says he loves his work. I asked him if he has a garden at home and, of course, the answer was yes.
The gardens are fabulous at this time of year: so much colour and such lovely fragrance everywhere you walk. Too many photo opportunities!
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
I love Lanhydrock too. In the house there are rooms where time has stood still, fascinating. Later in the year the hydrangeas are something to behold. Well done to Ian indeed!
Rain is forecast for later in the week so we shall go back to Lanhydrock and visit the house then!
