"One day, whilst out walking we saw a pond and some youngsters fishing. That gave us an idea.
We scrounged a line and hook from some Frenchmen and soon had several small fishes.
The other side of the pond, or lake I should call it, were some Russian soldiers fishing. Their methods were not of the usual angler. They were throwing hand-grenades into the water and then along came a rowing boat with two of their pals who collected the floating fishes.
We fried our fish but none of us was experts at preparing the fish and I found the scales rather hard. However, they were quite tasty fish and made a meal."
