a goldfinch on a foxglove

a bit of colour on a grey yesterday - spotted this whilst I was trying to capture photos of the wrens
Amazing how they balance on flimsy things like foxgloves but of course they are very light in weight themselves. Your garden looks very similar to parts of ours with all the shrubs and things. I like gardens to be like this and I think the birds like less formality too

@rosiekind Our garden starts to get a bit 'blowsy' at this time of year and it's not a very tidy garden. It slopes away from the house and the top part, which Ray had landscaped, is probably the most structured. The weigela on the right was drastically pruned but the eleagnus in the centre has grown v leggy.

@tishpics I'm now going to confess that we had friends here for lunch yesterday and Mike was helping me get my shots of the wrens. Then suddenly he spotted the goldfinch which stayed a little while on the foxglove so I was lucky!

@quietpurplehaze Our garden slopes as well and like yours does get a bit dense at this time of the year but I love it all the same and yesterday spent a bit of time thinning out some of the bits and pieces on the rockery which has become very very dense! You can't see the weeds so well though! lol

how wonderful to see it! I should love to see a goldfinch. The neighbours say that we have them but I have never seen them.
