"can't see the 'wood' for the trees"

This was my first 'outing' in this wintry weather. The pavements were slippery with compacted snow so I had Ray's ramblers' walking pole and kept mostly to the snowy grass verge and the road. Luckily not too much traffic about so we didn't have to jump back into the verge too many times! We have tickets for a tea-and-cake baroque music concert at the university this afternoon which was already cancelled on Friday and I've just called off our German group meeting for tomorrow afternoon. I heard on the weather forecast yesterday evening that the French are sending us some more snow showers up tonight and think it's uncustomarily uncivil of them. But it's already snowing here again this morning.
Wonderful shot Hazel! You have certainly got your share of the snow - its falling here now, lightly but relentlessly. I too have to walk only on the grassy verges because I cannot see what is under the snow on the roads - now my walks take twice as long because I am twice as slow (much to Bertie's irritation)

@tishpics I have to say that I am being quite cowardly and letting Ray do the walks with Jinks - but yesterday we needed milk - why is it that everybody runs out of milk when it snows? I fell over in the snow 2 years ago and it's made me very nervous!

@quietpurplehaze I fell at the beginning of the week in our lane which had icy patches under the snow - luckily I managed to throw myself into the softer verge as I went down!! The thought of breaking something is just too awful so now being soooo cautious!

@tishpics I'm sorry to heat that but glad you didn't hurt yourself. I didn't even know I was falling over 2 years ago until I actually hit the deck - a big hard thump flat on my back and then there were these faces looking down at me telling me that other people had already fallen over in that icy spot and trying to haul me up into the vertical when all I wanted to do was stay in the horizontal and collect myself for a bit! As you say an awful thought to break something and it's done in a second.

Love your photo, it gives me 'cool' thoughts in our hot icky weather :)

@purplehaze12 Thank you, Hazel. This was one of those 'gift' shots - only took two - too cold to linger! We are only on day 3 of snow!

@cathycope
It's strange to think of you in such hot weather conditions when we have snow! I was cold in bed in the night and got up to put on my wool poncho!

@cmt2812 @kmgally @sheilag thanks for comments - it's always the same - we are envious of what we don't have OR we would like to look at it but not live in it!!!!

Beautiful shot! I didn't realize you got that much snow there... We've hardly had a dusting here (although we're apparently due for a doozy of a storm tomorrow night thats supposed to drop 8-10 inches!)

@trevi70 Well we don't have too snow much here in the south of England but other parts of the country have more!

Many thanks for all comments. This local church is a good subject in snowy weather. This time I was walking the other side of the cemetery where the snow was deeper and not compacted so got a different unexpected shot.

@richardcreese

Thank you Richard, how nice to get a fav on an 'old' shot. I think I deserved this shot, reading again my accompanying text about how we went out in the slippery conditions!
