French 'pancake' which I made yesterday

I have no idea why this pancake is supposedly French but I like it because you make it in the oven instead of standing over a frying pan to make individual ones.

I took its photo in the oven (carefully cropping any bits which need cleaning!) as it tends to collapse soon after you take it out.

We had lemon and lime wedges and brown sugar with it. How did you eat your pancakes?
That looks so delicious! Have never had a french pancake but now I want to!

That's a big one! I tend not to eat pancakes, but Paul loves them year after year - they don't appeal to me personally :/

Darren, it's meant to serve 4. We ate it between 3. Pancakes are not my favourite either but I like the brown sugar and lime juice you put on them!!!!!

We like Peking duck too - with pancakes, cucumber, spring onions, and hoisin sauce. (We buy it ready made!!!)

Is this made like ordinary pancakes and baked instead of fried?

Looks delicious. Had lemon and sugar with ours after standing over a hot stove!

If anybody fancies making one: cream 2 ozs soft marge with 2 ozs sugar, gradually add 2 beaten med/large eggs using some flour from 2ozs plain flour so mixture does not curdle, fold in rest of flour, add 1/4 pint warm milk and mix together. Pour into well-greased pie plate and cook in moderate oven for 20-30 mins.

Your wife is other person I've known about who makes this recipe. Maybe we should rename it International Pancake.
