Had I had any intention of catching the ferry from Walberswick across the River Blyth, I don't think I would have felt too reassured by the lower notice.

I've been on this ferry! Some time ago though, when you could still get in to Walberswick and take the kids crabbing without having to take out a second mortgage to pay for the car park.
I love this part of the coast but sadly Walberswick is now full of second homes and not so accessible to locals. I have a friend who was born here and when she retired she wanted to move back but couldn't afford to. because of the artificially inflated house prices.
Seeing that red sign I think I also would run a mile !!

Sadly that scenario seems often to be the case in desirable locations now. I feel for your friend.
I liked that too and guess it means they go free?!
