............St Bartholemew's Church, 13th century, stands just outside the gates of Manor Farm, now a country park.
The advice I've been given for shots to put in my mono album this month, is to shoot in colour, make any alterations as normal and then convert to b&w, sepia etc. This shot was taken in the morning sunlight and the greens were almost luminous.
Through doing just a few b&w shots, something seems to have happened to my perception of colour: everything in a colour shot seems a bit bright and OTT - interesting.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Brilliant b&w. The shades are really sharp too. I shoot in colour and then convert to b&w in photoshop and once the colour sliders appear I adjust them to sharpen each individual colour, that adjustst the sharpness of each colour.
I'm in love with this shot, Hazel. I wish I could see it in color, with the vibrant greens and speckles of sunlight. Please? Something in me feels a little cheated :(
I don't have Photoshop but have Faststone. However some aspects of it seem complicated right now so I'm using Picasa or PicMonkey for my conversions - always something else to learn and improve on!!
I really like this in mono....I saw your colour version on the way down but think this version gives a more mysterious air somehow. A really sweet little church.
Love both but in this case I prefer the color one. Why? the light . In the color one it`s a pre , in this B+W one I think I prefer less to make it more dramatic. I can be wrong and I`m the first one to admit it.
Claire, thanks for all your comments and sorry I have missed you while you have been away from the site a bit. Sorry I hadn't checked to see what was up - take good care.
