Some lucky folk were having a trip around Bristol Harbour in this reconstruction of The Matthew, the boat in which Cabot arrived in America in the 15th century.
A small and belated September update for 2024, where I am still, after many years' membership, on 365 Project, also now posting elsewhere but wanting...
Morning Hazel -- up early and a really awful wet day here !! Nice shot but I would like to see it in a lighter tone to brighten up the white buildings and boat in the fore ( just my humble and amateurish view point !! Hazel ! )
Hello Beryl - I was up at 5,15, to see Ray off on a coach trip to Scotland with the ramblers, hence the dawn shot. It's fine here so far but clouds threatening. I agree that this shot is not quite right - my least favourite of all my b&w - not too sure what the answer is!
. I love the history of the Matthew, I was lucky enough to sail on it last year. You are allowed to go below decks and see the sleeping quarter. - cramped in an understatement!
Oh WOW, down below! We went on SS Gt Britain and I managed to have a look at the 1st class dining room but (as I suffer from claustrophobia) going into steerage where the lesser mortals spent their time, I had to make a speedy exit.
The sepia makes you focus on the boat and not the modern day surroundings, which is a good call; it also enhances the drama in that sky. I am thinking at some point you got wet
Thank you for comments and I was OK as soon as I got out! One pet hate of mine re claustrophobia is toilet cubicles which, when you lock the door, you feel as if you are in a tomb!!!!
Beautiful shot. Love the old and the new next to each other. Nice processing. Has a totally different feel to this one than the colour version, both are so good.

Trinda, thank you - I was a bit concerned about this shot so your comment and fav has made my morning!!

Thanks for your comments - interesting and I so often find 365 friends' takes on my shots are different from my own. Amazingly there was no rain!
