tree with mistletoe

I always think that, for a parasite, mistletoe has rather a magical mysterious reputation. It grows quite well on trees in the Hampshire countryside - this one is in the grounds of Mottisfont Abbey.
Great shot Hazel. I didn't know it was a parasite, but that is one festive tree.

Hi Hazel, I LOVE finding mistletoe, you don't see as much around now as you used to. We have some on a tree near here, but it's too high for anybody to steal (thank god!!) x

Yes mistletoe does give trees a great shape but it is a parasite

A brilliant capture I love to see it on the trees. I always call them kissing trees but it has never worked for me yet.

Interesting shot, we get a lot of mistletoe out here and it throttles the trees it latches on to eventually.

I have never seen mistletoe growing live before so interesting to see this as it covers the branches!

@happypat

I think maybe it only grows in the south of England - but not sure. It also grows in northern France. But the mistletoe is always too high up on the tree to reach so I have to buy some!

In Holland and Belgium too. They are protected in nature , but cultivated. In my florist time I sold them as you are allowed to kiss the girl that stands underneath it . The Dutch name = Maretak.
