In the Master's garden, St Cross

This was a failed attempt by the camera to capture the red lifebelt so I've converted the shot to greyscale in FastStone and added a bit more contrast.
Sometime one just as to foll the camera by under exposing. Love this image just the same.

@sgtpepper

Um, thanks - must check. This red s/c prog on my Fuji has no possibility for changing settings - maybe it's possible on the Sony I've now got.

lovely shot, caught the atmosphere beautifully. fav.

I had trouble with lifebelts, too! They either totally dominate the picture or they disappear! Nice capture
February 23rd, 2015
fabulous shot, wouldn't your processing allow the red flash on the lifebelt?
February 23rd, 2015
Fabulous compositition.

A beautiful shot, sometimes flukes work great ;)

I have never heard of faststone but I love the effect Hazel....must check it out! Lovely tones here & I can understand how the red lifebelt would stand out!

@pinkpaintpot

The camera only got it in bits (it really needs flat surfaces) - and, truthfully, I couldn't be bothered to do a 'clone and heal' processing on it!!

@happypat

Pat, Faststone is free to download online - just a request for a small voluntary donation, say £5.

Well, I think it might have worked out better without the red, there is so much to see in the picture without the distraction...
February 23rd, 2015
@quietpurplehaze Oh right Hazel....will check it out, thank you.

@susie1205 @pinkpaintpot

I did try, after all, to re-instate the red but it was too tricky with bits of twiggy branches around, and across the front of, the lifebelt!

Nicely composed, and well processed image.

Wonderful picture. Congratulations on making the Trending Page. Well deserved.

Wonderful picture. Love the snowdrops!
February 23rd, 2015
I think this looks perfect the way it is without the red of the lifebelt

Really nice scene - great composition. Looks terrific in b@w.

What happened to picking out the red lifebelt, did it not work as you intended it might?
February 24th, 2015
@sabresun

Too difficult!!
February 24th, 2015
@quietpurplehaze It's easy!
February 24th, 2015
A beautiful and lovely place, great B+W capture
February 27th, 2015
@sabresun

Not with all those twigs etc! And if the camera doesn't deliver the goods......!
